About course

On the General English Course, you attend a core of 28 hours per week, which will give you a practical foundation of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. See your confidence improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. You can also choose to extend and intensify your 30 hours per week with adds-on.

In the end, this course will help build a students’ skills for university and workplace.

COURSE AIMS

We help you become a more confident user of the English language with a special focus on functional skills and usage, on all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. In the end, this course will help build a students’ skills for university & workplace.

SMALL GROUPS

Maximum 12 students.
We keep classes small, so that your teacher can focus on you.

COURSEBOOK

We use an engaging course book series from HEADWAY, which helps you develop all your English language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. They include lots of useful functional language, and fascinating videos.

E-LEARNING

You will use the internet to access some great resources and practice your dictionary skills.

TESTS

You will take a placement test on your first day in the school, so that we can put you into a class that fits your level of English. During the duration of the course there will be weekly assessment test to get a clear picture on your progress and improvement.

TUTORIALS

Your teachers will also provide you with supplementation materials tutored to your needs while you study with us. You will meet your tutor regularly for a one-to-one discussion on how you are progressing, and what else can be done to further develop your English skills.

CERTIFICATE

Students will be awarded with certificate for each level they successfully complete:
1. Beginner | 2. Elementary |
3. Intermediate | 4. Advanced

Progress evaluation of our students

BRIGHT LANGUAGE CENTER constantly measures its students’ progress to ensure their improvement:

Placement test
Students are required to take a placement test which assesses their writing and reading abilities, as long need to go through speaking assessment to finalize which level and class the student is to attend.
Weekly progress tests
The progress tests are used to monitor the students improvements on vocabulary, grammar , pronunciation on weekly basis. The weekly reports are recorded and feedback is provided to students.
Mid-term exam
Mid- term exam are used to determine the student’s mid-way language progress. The test consists of grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing.
Speaking assessment & monitoring
Assessment of speaking skills of our students ensures their improvement to feel confident in the English-speaking world for their level.
Final course exam
The final exam is used to determine if the student has mastered all the skills and fluency of studied level. It guides the tutor to decide whether the student is ready to level up.
